La’Kendrick Van Zandt, Safety, TCU

One spot the Dallas Cowboys lost this offseason was the safety/linebacker role left behind by a departed Damontae Kazee. Jabril Cox is expected to fill this role, but depth is a little bit of a question. Probably needing to figure out this role in the NFL, he will most likely need some time on the practice squad.

Van Zandt loves to come downhill and make contact. With a high work ethic and a drive to get better he understands what he is seeing in front of him. Sinks quickly and gets into his zone with urgency. Can cover tight ends across the middle.

Van Zandt has had some injury issues, but has fought back to play from each. As a smaller safety he can get washed out of plays far too often. Will sometimes sell his intention too early and quarterbacks will beat him because of it.
