Dennis Houston, WR, Western Illinois

One of the things the Dallas Cowboys need out of their wide receivers is hands and length, Houston has both which will help in trying to earn a spot. Houston is probably going to be a practice squad player, but some intriguing qualities will help him stand out. Probably best suited as a bigger slot receiver which fits into the Dallas Cowboys plans.

Houston has really good hands and is a reliable target. He sets defensive backs up with good change of pace to help break long runs. He finds his way through traffic well and will fight across the middle. Amazing body control which also helps his ability to find extra yardage in tight situations.

Houston’s route tree is still limited and level of competition will be a question. He has good speed but it doesn’t always show up in game. He doesn’t always open up to the quarterback which causes some checked throws to his direction. A bit streaky and undersized, which limits where he will play early.
