Big Kat Bryant, Edge, Central Florida

Bryant transferred to follow Gus Malzahn at UCF and played well for the school this past season. Bryant was highly recruited, but never fully lived up to the hype although he shows flashes. With the Dallas Cowboys losing Randy Gregory, there was a need for more pass-rushing at the edge. Bryant will need some development, but should he finally unlock his potential he could find his way onto the roster at some point in the next few seasons. Special teams play could speed this up.

The positives for Bryant is his size and physical traits. He has a huge tackle radius and a long reach to get into passing lanes and getting his hand on a ball carrier. Powerful at the point of attack with flashes of pass rush moves, albeit very inconsistently, Bryant has shown a relentless motor which has helped him flash on the field. He anticipates the snap well which helps his burst off the line.

Bryant is a little stiff when rushing and doesn’t show consistent bend to get around the corner. He will sometimes allow himself to get out of control which pushes him out of a play and he has to scramble to get back into it. While he anticipates the snap well, he is almost never the first guy out of his stance. His hands need technique work, but he has the flashes that you want to see to get there.
