Mike Tafua, Defensive End, Utah

The Dallas Cowboys again dip to the well of defensive end, with still potentially needed in pass rush and run-stopping on the defensive line. Tafua is one of the better run defenders at edge in this class so he fits into a hole the Cowboys have. Unlocked potential, even with a slightly higher age of 26, could still unlock more.

Tafua is a relentless edge player who is always looking to be involved. He showed a hige step forward in 2021 with his pass rush and had an extremely productive year with 9.5 sacks. Shoots gaps well to get inside quickly on run defense. He is violent and overpowering on tight ends which allows him to set edges in the run game well.

Not the most bendy player with some stiffness in his hips. Once locked up he doesn’t counter well to get free which can sometimes lead to him being taken out of a play. He tries to guess the snap and will get pulled offsides. He is more, fast than twitchy, which has him playing at one speed and doesn’t do as well to change gears.
