More Dallas Cowboys offense

Tight End (3)

Dalton Schultz, Sean McKeon, Jake Ferguson

While I think the Dallas Cowboys could easily go four-deep at tight end, I just don’t think Jeremy Sprinkle offers anything more than Noah Brown does at WR. As we discussed in a pre-draft article (1 dimensional TEs are losing their appeal), if a TE can’t block at the line, a power slot WR is often considered the better option.

So I have Dalton Schultz playing one more year in Dallas at the TE1 with the best blocker of the group, McKeon, playing primary TE2. Ferguson will be brought along slowly, much like Schultz was a rookie. Any TE-like-role after that will be split between Brown and Connor McGovern.

Receivers (6)

CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Jalen Tolbert, James Washington, Noah Brown, Semi  Fehoko

It’s strange not starting this list with Amari but here we are. The Cowboys are banking their future on either CeeDee or Gallup stepping up into that WR1 role. With Gallup on the mend, it will likely be Lamb. Washington provides the veteran stability that Cedrick Wilson used to and Jalen Tolbert is the expected WR3 already this season.

After that, things can go a variety of ways. Brown was retained and as the best run blocking WR on the team, he’s likely a pretty sure bet to make the team. He can block on the run and inline which is more than I can say for half of the NFL’s TEs nowadays.

Semi is WR6 and the top developmental project. His size and speed can’t be taught and his special teams play wins him a spot. He hasn’t shown much of anything as a WR in Dallas so this optimistic at this point.

Brandon Smith and T.J. Vasher cannot be taken lightly and both have the size the Cowboys crave on offense.
