The Dallas Mavericks’ season has come to an end and now it is time for the offseason to begin. What started with a ton of uncertainties transitioned to a Western Conference Finals run. Coach Jason Kidd propelled the team to a hot 2022 start as they had the second best record of the year and finished as a top four team in the West.

However, now the team must look towards the future. Some questions the team must answer include: Will they resign Jalen Brunson? Will this be the year the team finally gets a big man? What sort of help will Luka Doncic get? Which players if any will be traded?

With the offseason just beginning I provide to you: The Dallas Mavericks Perfect Offseason.

1. Re-sign Jalen Brunson

I feel like this is a no-brainer. The Mavs must do everything in their power to get Brunson back on the roster. If the young guard went to leave, then this would be a repeat of the 2004 offseason. Don’t get me wrong, Doncic is great but he needs a player to help him play off the ball. Spencer Dinwiddie has the potential to be that guy, however he has done a great job coming off the bench for the team.

This is the best season Brunson has ever had. He is averaging 22 points in just 35 minutes. His skill set is something that Dallas cannot let go to waste.

2. Get a Big Man

This must be the offseason Dallas finally gets their dominant presence down low. For the past couple of seasons the Mavericks have yet to find a dominant center. Yes you argue the team had Kristaps Porzingis for a time, but he fit more into the power forward scoring role. Besides him though, the only player Dallas has truly used at the five spot is Dwight Powell. (We all know how that is going…..)

The Mavs will have plenty of chances down to finally get their man. Some players on the market will include: Jusuf Nurkic, Mitchell Robinson, and Hassan Whiteside. Restricted players include Deandre Ayton, Nic Claxton and Mo Bamba.

Some trade options might include Christin Wood an Rudy Gobert.

Dallas will have plenty of options and this must be the time they must finally capitalize.

3. Sign A Third Option to Doncic and Brunson

One thing Dallas must add to their roster is finding an extra scorer to take the pressure of the team’s young guards. As mentioned earlier Dinwiddie works best as a sixth man option.

If their wallet permits the team must look to add an extra star. Name like Zach Lavine and Miles Bridges. Other player options include Bradley Beal. While all these names seem like long shots, Dallas must put themselves in a position to at least get a chance at one of these players.

4. Recruit Valuable Free Agents

It has been some time since the Dallas Mavericks signed a big name free agent to the team. Yes three years ago they signed Porzingis to a max contract, but we all know how that turned out. Now it is time to grow and sign a reliable player.

There is a reason the team recruited Nico Harrison last season. Only time will tell if we does what is need of him.

So what is the dream offseason for the Dallas Mavericks.

My ideal transactions include:

  • Bringing back Brunson
  • Getting Nurkic
  • Recruiting Lavine

Here is what I think will happen:

  • Brunson leaves to another team
  • Dallas signs a veteran center like Serge Ibaka or Robin Lopez
  • The Mavs bring in a three and D guard like Miles Bridges or even Nicolas Batum

Next. Dallas Mavericks: Maybe it’s time for a new style of offensive attack. dark

Whatever happens I have belief that Harrison will make the right plays to help Dallas out in the future. Hold on tight Mavs fans, this is going to be great offseason.
