The Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of their OTAs currently and are offering up some things that give us a peek into how this team sees itself for 2022.

While everyone is talking about the injuries and Dalton Schultz holdout, there has been a few other things going on that focus a little more to play on the field. Yes, injuries and how players step up is something to watch, but usage of players could be huge.

One of the biggest things the Dallas Cowboys have shown this offseason is a belief in certain players that they felt allowed them to move on from last season’s productive starters. While we all wonder how the pass rush will actually look or the receiving corps will actually play, the bigger question will be what will the staff do to adjust to the losses in terms of scheme.

The Dallas Cowboys have shown a few peeks behind the curtain at OTAs as they march toward the 2022 season.

One of the bigger things we have seen to help the receiving corps is the use of running back Tony Pollard in the slot.

With CeeDee Lamb playing more outside snaps, using Pollard more and creating ways to get him touches will give the Cowboys another dynamic offensive player with experience for Dak to throw to, especially with Michael Gallup missing a few games. Fans wanted Pollard to get more touches, and with the Dallas Cowboys so focused on running Ezekiel Elliott, this may be the best way to accomplish that.

Another peek is how they are using Micah Parsons. With huge questions on edge outside of Demarcus Lawrence, the thought was to use Parsons more at the positions. So far, the Dallas Cowboys seem to be avoiding that direction and instead want to figure out the rotation without him. There are even rumors are they could still be looking for a free agent or a trade at some point.

These are just two of the things, outside of the injuries, of what the Dallas Cowboys are showing thus far in the OTAs. It appears they are looking for ways to get playmaking ability in the passing game and figuring out the defensive line rotation and usage.

With a week left, the coaching staff hope to use the OTAs to shape how training camp will go. OTAs could also help the front office make some decisions regarding extensions and/or adding new players.
