Throughout their historic past, the Dallas Cowboys have repeatedly made major trades that yielded them immediate success and helped make them “America’s Team”. Way back in the 1977 NFL draft, renowned Cowboys General Manager, Texx Schramm, traded four of the Cowboys draft picks for reigning Heisman trophy running back, Tony Dorsett.

The Cowboys won the Super Bowl in Dorsett’s rookie season.

The most popular trade happened in 1989 when then head coach, Jimmy Johnson, pulled off the greatest trade in sports history when he dealt ultra-talented running back Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings for a boat load of first, second, and third round picks that laid down the foundation for the Cowboys winning three Super Bowl trophies in the span of four years.

But back in the summer of 1992, the trade that helped the Cowboys dethrone the powerful San Francisco 49ers reign as perennial NFC champs was trading for the 49ers own super edge rusher, Charles Haley. The Hall of Fame pass rusher propelled the Cowboys defense to three Super Bowl titles in the 1990’s.

The Dallas Cowboys could still trade for a game-changing veteran to get this team over the top

With Dallas having to face elite quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers (the Grinch), Tom Brady, Matthew Stafford, and Joe Burrow this season, it’s imperative they have the “War Daddies to get after them.

Unfortunately for Dallas, there wasn’t a Dorsett-type player in this year’s draft to trade for, there is no player on Dallas’ roster with the value of Walker, and there definitely isn’t a disgruntled, talented edge rusher like Haley ready to be traded Dallas to make them an instant Super Bowl contender.

However, there are a few players who might not be Hall of Fame worthy, but they’re definitely good enough to help Dallas rise as a formidable foe and then some. Two players that are on the radar are on the defense: linebacker Anthony Barr and pass rusher Robert Quinn.

With any player aged 30 and over, there are negatives, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. So, let’s take a look at two players who have more to give than not at this stage in their careers.
