The Dallas Mavericks have been some what quiet this offseason. Some of their summer transactions include resigning rally-man Theo Pinson and bringing in big-man JaVale McGee. Other key moves compromise of trading for Houston Christian Wood and drafting G league phenom Jaden Hardy.

While to many fans this sort of year may seem like a disappointment, there is still plenty of hope for a team that made the Western Conference Finals last season.

Yes Jalen Brunson is gone, but the team still has Luka Doncic and did a well rounded job of addressing their rebounding woes.

With a cloudy offseason, there is still plenty of optimism for the future of the Dallas Mavericks.

As it stands, the Mavericks have just one open roster spot. Whether it is through free agency or a trade there is plenty of options for Dallas to observe. Another alternative includes the summer league roster.

On Friday July 8th, the Dallas team will begin their summer league debut. All eyes will be on Jaden Hardy. The young 20 year old joins a squad who has plenty of hope and praise for their second round selection.

For the G league Ignite last season, he averaged 21.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals. In 12 games for the G-League showcase, Hardy scored 17.7 points and 4.6 rebounds. Some of his strengths include his ability to create his own shot and drive to the rim. His weakness revolves around his shooting percentage. For the Ignite he made seven out of 19 shot attempts and from the three he averaged 32.9 percent.

However his experience in the G League and high point percentage, will be something that can give Dallas that extra spark.

Another G league player to watch out for this summer includes Moses Wright. Last season Wright signed a two-way contract with the Mavs. In the few games and minutes that he played he averaged 1.7 points and one rebound in four minutes.

In spite of that, his numbers took  a major turn during his time with the Texas Legends (Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate). In 12 games for the Legends he played around 33 minutes. During that time he averaged 22.4 points 10 rebounds and shot 53 percent from the field.

Some of his top work is revolved around his presence down low.

While there is plenty of hope for the players in the summer league, the team has plenty of reasons to have faith on the players within the roster.

Currently the averaged age roster for the Mavs is 26. Besides Doncic, there is plenty of youthful presence on the squad. The oldest player on the roster is 31 year old Reggie Bullock and the youngest in 20 year old Jaden Hardy. After Hardy, other youthful players include 21 year old Josh Green and 23 year old Frank Ntilikina. While Green’s status is still up in the air, his experience in the playoffs and season could help him take the next step in his game.

His best performance came in game three against the Utah Jazz. In the match he shot 66 percent and combined for 12 points and six assists. While he struggled the rest of the way, this is a glimpse of hope he can continue to grow his game.

One player who did take a major step this season was Ntilikina. After the 2020-2021 season he was seen as washed up. However Dallas took a chance on the young guard. This season he upped his points per game and increased his field goal percentage.

His defensive presence in the playoff helped Dallas win their first playoff match since 2011.
