The Dallas Cowboys have the biggest fanbase in the NFL. As such, they are inevitably a diverse group made up of a variety of characters. There are the optimists, the pessimists, the realists, the homers, the haters, the list goes on…

But what’s the current pulse of Cowboys Nation as a whole? This is something we get asked often. What kind of fans are Dallas Cowboys fans, generally speaking?

Dallas Cowboys fans are notoriously divided, offering perfect balance within Cowboys Nation.

If you’ve spent any time on social media this century, you’ll know, Dallas Cowboys fans argue with themselves more than they argue with anyone. The pessimists are always at odds with the optimists. The Dak Hive and Romo stans are notoriously sworn enemies. The homers, the haters, and the critics are always happy to fight each other and make no qualms about questioning the opposition’s fandom and/or legitimacy.

The thing is – all of this disagreement, all of this in-fighting, all of this contrast – make Cowboys Nation a beautiful place.

According to Betway and Linkfluence, the Dallas Cowboys are a perfectly balanced fanbase. Based on the prevalence of positive posts, the Dallas Cowboys are tied at 15, placing them right in the middle of the pack.

Cowboys Nation isn’t loaded with homers who blindly support the front office rain or shine. Just like they aren’t full of haters who only seem to be happy when it rains (queue Garbage, circa 1995). Yes, the Dallas fanbase is comprised of both, but it’s a well-rounded number so one side isn’t drowning out all others.

There’s comfort in like-mindedness. It’s easy to tune out those in which we disagree and retreat to the peace of our happy echo chambers, but in doing so we miss out on the balance Cowboys Nation has to offer. Contrary opinions aren’t just useful, but they’re often necessary in determining truth and/or answering questions we didn’t even know we had.

The Dallas Cowboys can be a polarizing team. From their decision-making, to their cast of characters, to their endless media attention, they almost force the fanbase to take sides. While this might foster an abrasive environment, it also churns out good discussions that can offer a fairly balanced discussion.

We already know the Dallas Cowboys have one of the most loyal fanbases in the NFL. After all, despite their lack of postseason success, they continue to grow. But now we can see they are also a fairly well-round fanbase that isn’t too positive or too negative, and that’s something to be proud of.
