Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster prediction (training camp edition 1.0)
By Reid Hanson
The Dallas Cowboys are just one week into Oxnard but already we see the cream rising to the top. Hard work over the offseason is now paying dividends to the young Cowboys trying to break through. And after cutting bait with a handful of highly paid but underperforming veterans, the opportunities are there.
The Dallas Cowboys first 53-man roster prediction of Oxnard is here
The pads are coming on today so obviously much can change between now and next week when we update our prediction. But just because the pads weren’t on, doesn’t mean the practices weren’t telling. Players flashed and those players are going to get a nod today in this roster prediction.
Quarterback (2): DaK Prescott, Cooper Rush
Unless Will Grier or Ben DiNucci step up in the first two preseason games, I’m not expecting anyone after Cooper Rush to make the final cut this year. Both of Dallas’ depth pieces at QB are at a low-level replacement level, meaning they are entirely replaceable and nothing more than practice squad developmental players at this point.
But the opportunities will be there to change that. Neither Dak Prescott nor Tony Romo looked particularly great in their first training camps and only after flashing the “it” factor in games did they get a real chance to make the team.
With Dak sitting out the first two games, the stage is set – can one of them capitalize?
