Dallas Cowboys Prediction 2. KICK IT INTO HIGH GRIER

We’ll likely see the always anticipated debut of the franchise quarterback. Dak Prescott could see his first pre-season reps Saturday night. How many? We will likely know more about the Dallas Cowboys approach to the number of snaps the stars will take as we get closer to game time.

However, Dak isn’t the only signal caller making his pre-season debut.

Will Grief was held out of last week’s game with a groin injury, but was back in practice on Thursday and is likely to see action against the Chargers. What does that mean for the quarterback depth chart? Potentially a ton.

Last week we saw some good, plenty of bad, and even a sad realization from the Cowboys quarterback play. The good was Ben DiNucci looked like a guy who could challenge for a QB3 spot. The bad is Cooper Rush looked like a guy falling into the QB3 spot. And the sad is, well, just the fact Ben DiNucci looked better than Cooper Rush.

Enter Will Grier.

One thing is for absolute certain. Will Grier has the second strongest arm in the Dallas Cowboys QB room behind Dak Prescott. He was also playing very well in camp with some even touting his ascension as Prescott’s primary backup before they’d seen him against actual competition. Perhaps a tad presumptive, sure, but Saturday will be the opportunity for the former third round pick to finally earn, not just a spot on an NFL roster, but carve out an actual role.

There’s no telling what combination of offensive linemen he’ll be behind, but the opportunity is now at his doorstep. Not only does Grier seize the opportunity, but look for him to steal the show.
