As the fantasy football season approaches the Dallas Cowboys are primed to be a top fantasy offense once again.

In 2021, the Cowboys are ranked first in fantasy points per game and are poised once again to finish at the top despite the absences of key members such as Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson.

Dallas Cowboys Steal No. 1: Tony Pollard

The first player that you should make an effort to roster in every format is Tony Pollard. Pollard has been a player Cowboys fans have begged Mike McCarthy to give more reps at halfback. He is the better option right now and Ezekiel Elliot is not getting any younger.

There have been talks about Pollard getting lined up in the slot and receiving a lot more passing opportunities. Pollard eclipsed 1,000 total yards from scrimmage despite Elliot receiving the majority of the workload by a significant margin.

According to FantasyPros, Pollard was 28th in running back scoring and I expect that number to increase by season’s end. Pollard averaged 6.2 yards per touch slotting him 2nd in the whole league in that category.

The Dallas Cowboys will offer some steals in fantasy football this year…

In fantasy, the running backs who win you the week are the guys who can catch passes on a reliable basis. Pollard had a low 23% route participation last season, but that did not prevent him from being the top RB in yards per route run.

While the absence of passing weapons may be a detriment for the Cowboys in games, for fantasy purposes this is the perfect opportunity for Pollard to finish in the top-24 at the minimum assuming Zeke stays on the field all season long.

Expect Pollard’s passing numbers to go up and if he can continue to run the way he has there is a scenario where Pollard ends up with a 750/500 type of season. Should Zeke miss a chunk of time there is no reason to think Pollard can’t change that number to 1000/1000 and be a week-in and week-out starter. He is currently going as the RB32 in drafts and should have serious FLEX consideration in PPR leagues.
