Dallas Cowboys FF steal No 2: Dalton Schultz

As previously mentioned, the Dallas Cowboys lost their WR2 and even though Dalton Schultz played his way into a TE3 season, finishing behind only Mark Andrews and Travis Kelce, he still has more room to grow.

Schultz has sneakily produced at an elite level the last two seasons, only Darren Waller, Mark Andrews, and Travis Kelce have scored more fantasy points at the tight end position. Last season Schultz had finished third in receptions (78), second in touchdowns (8), and sixth in route participation (77%).

The tight end position is one the scariest in fantasy football as they are rarely ever the top target. Yes, they can steal some red zone targets but other than the top three to five options, getting ten points in a week can always be considered a victory.

Schultz and Dak Prescott have built up a rapport where he is the number two option for Dak on a depleted offense and being third in receptions would indicate that. He is an elite receiving tight end who will rarely sit back and help block as indicated by his 586 total routes run, third in the NFL.

Schultz just received the franchise tag from the Cowboys this summer so they are committed to getting him the ball and utilizing the most of his ability. Schultz racked up a 16% target share and he will build upon that in the absence of Amari Cooper.

He is currently going in the 5-6th round in 12-team leagues and that is still great value even with the season opener approaching this Thursday. I have him on all my teams and have been much happier waiting until the 6th round to grab a great tight end while stacking up on elite RBs and WRs instead of reaching for one of the top three options.
