Dallas Cowboys take No 2: Jake Ferguson will a big weapon.

While everyone is looking at Dalton Schultz, the sleeper here is Jake Ferguson. If the Cowboys do in fact run more they will probably use a lot of “12 personnel” which puts Ferguson on the field more. Teams should key on Schultz and Lamb quite a bit and Ferguson is a player who could reap the benefits. His ability to catch well in traffic could mean he is a red zone threat as teams don’t look his way early in the season.

Ferguson could end up with at least five touchdowns and while that may not seem like a ton, it is more than many think with Schultz, Lamb, and Elliott expected to be the three “key” offensive weapons. Should he break out earlier in the season, he could be the “better” tight end statistically at different parts of the season.

Take No. 3: The Cowboys will acquire a player via trade.

Right now the Cowboys have some questions that we just do not know how they will be answered. They have tried to address the offensive tackle position with Jason Peters, but at 40 years old and past injury history (although he was fairly healthy with the Bears) and Tyron Smith’s known injuries that leaves a rookie who did not play much preseason at left tackle potentially. Tyler Smith was penciled in as the left guard and injuries have forced him outside and Conner McGovern to play guard. A trade for an offensive line player is a possibility should health be the issue.

However, there is also the question of wide receiver. We touched earlier on the lack of experience and while the Cowboys hope James Washington can get healthy and Michael Gallup comes back healthy earlier than expected, there is always the option to get more experience at the position if it doesn’t work out. This means that unless it is a perfect storm at both position groups a trade could very well happen. Sure, it could be a different position, but I think they really could pull the trigger somewhere.
