Dallas Cowboys give thanks for…Tony Pollard

Just days ago, we here at Sport DFW awarded Tony Pollard with the first-half Offensive MVP award and he’s making a case he deserves the second-half award as well. It’s not often a No. 2 RB snags theses honors so inarguably but Pollard has done so and continues to prove he’s the ultimate offensive weapon.

As a runner, Tony Pollard has 701 yards on 118 carries for a career high of 5.9 yards/carry. That places him 10th in the NFL. As a RB pass-catcher Pollard has 243 yards which is also 10th in the NFL, but his 11.6 yards/reception lead the league.

Pollard ranks second in yards/touch, fourth in breakaway run rate, and with an average of 6.9 defenders in the box, he’s the 11th most feared runner in the NFL (based on defenders in box).

He’s proven to be every bit as deadly in the passing game as he is in the running game. He was clocked over 20 mph on both his 68 yard score as well as his 30-yard score.

Cooper Rush was able to give the ball to TP in low-risk situations and bask in the glory of their high-reward results

Pollard makes smooth cuts and plays with sure hands. He can break off a homerun in any situation which impacts the way defenses play the Dallas Cowboys and that opens things up for everyone.

Other than the dominant play of the defense, Pollard is the primary reason the Cowboys survived the loss of Dak Prescott. Cooper Rush was able to give the ball to TP in low-risk situations and bask in the glory of their high-reward results.
