Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft: Episode One (Filling Holes)
Round Six (Comp Pick) – Cameron Brown – Cornerback – Ohio State
With serious questions about the depth at cornerback, the Dallas Cowboys could double dip again and look for more depth. While Daron Bland showed up as a viable slot corner moving forward, there are still some depth issues inside and some depth issues outside that could use help. Brown can play both positions and would be a valuable depth piece, even if he is not ready to be a full-time starter.
Brown can play both in press and off-man but is probably better suited at this point for more zone responsibilities as his reaction time and closing speed is perfect for it. With his size he can take on bigger receivers with some power, so he doesn’t get bullied too often. While his ball production isn’t stellar, he does flash at times to see and play the ball well.
Injuries are the first concern when it comes to Brown as it has plagued him to this point. Some of it is his willingness to be physical, but it’s something teams will look at. I don’t love him in run support and wished he would play it better from getting away from blocks to coming down to meet the ball carrier. He’s not the fastest guy, so he may be limited in who he covers. He can get a little stiff in changing directions.
