Dallas Cowboys trade option: Green Bay plays let’s make a deal

Would the Packers be gamed for trading away one aging temperamental star for a player who still has some upside but losing steam with his current team?

Short answer – Why not? Both quarterbacks (Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott) are earning substantial contracts.

For Dak, he would bring his proven track record and cheaper (not much cheaper) contract to a team with a decent defense, good young coach and a run first approach rather than swinging and missing on Jordan Love’s potential.

For Aaron, some players just need that change of scenery. I think it would rejuvenate the former four-time MVP. For better or worse, he would be locked in with Mike McCarthy again. I believe he could handle the Cowboy fan base as well as the Cowboy front office.

Dallas would still have their draft capital to add either a wide receiver, offensive lineman or a running back like say Bijan Robinson to pair with Tony Pollard. Yep, I’m speaking that into existence.

All three of these options would work but most Dallas Cowboy fans have settled into the fact that Dak will be the quarterback of this team at least for the next season or two. Maybe he gets over the hump and gets at least to an NFC championship game.

Or maybe it will be more of the same. Maybe Jerry will be patient with the Dak, Mike and Kellen experience. Either way, that’s a lot of maybes for a team with this much talent.

The Eagles (Carson Wentz), Rams (Jared Goff), Texans (Deshaun Watson), Lions (Matthew Stafford) and Seattle Seahawks (Russell Wilson) all decided they had tough decisions to make and made them. Some worked out and others didn’t. The Cowboys will probably stay the course, but they can’t say there’s no options available.
