Dallas Cowboys 7-Round Mock Draft 2023 (comp picks and more)

Dallas Cowboys Round Two – Jalin Hyatt – Wide Receiver – Tennessee
Hyatt had one of the best seasons in college during the Volunteer’s 6-2 push and Orange Bowl win over Clemson. Jalin Hyatt posted the 5th highest receiving yards in college football with 1,267 yards on only 67 receptions while adding 15 touchdowns which was tied for second best in the NCAA. Hyatt’s staggering 18.9 yards per catch was top-15 to round out the year with his longest touchdown coming on a 78-yard bomb.
Jalin Hyatt’s greatest strength is his elite speed as he has been electronically clocked running the 40-yard dash in 4.31 seconds. At 21 it appears that he is primed and ready to see success day 1 in the NFL against even the toughest of NFL defenses. Standing at 6 feet, Hyatt has a vertical of 34.5″ to pair with his Flash-like speed and can beat any defensive back lined up across from him. Leading the country in QB rating when targeted in 2022, his reliable hands, yards after catch ability, and dominate speed would give Dak Prescott the much needed second option at wide receiver while also alleviating the attention CeeDee Lamb demands.
So many may question why Jalin Hyatt would even be there when the cowboys pick again late in the second round. Although that’s a valid question, we have to realize that this year’s wide receiver class is deep. On top of that Hyatt does have a slender build that resembles that of Davonta Smith and he’s only had one year of top-tier production. With his elite speed and ability to win off the line of scrimmage, Hyatt would be the perfect pairing with Lamb as he would not be expected to step in and be the top guy day 1 as many second round picks are. This would give him the ability to expand his route tree and finesse both from the slot and outside. The NFL is much faster than college and he won’t be able to flat out win footraces on deep patterns every snap like he did in college.
