Dallas Cowboys Round Six (Comp Pick – Conner Williams) – Fabien Lovett – Defensive Tackle – FSU

Over the last few years there has been very few positions that the Cowboys have neglected more than the defensive tackle position. They’ve needed a true run-stopper to shore up the middle of the defensive line and the additions of Jonathan Hankins has helped but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

Lovett’s wide base and low center of gravity would be another step in the right direction in shoring up the interior defensive line. Not only is Lovett a big-bodied run-stopper, he also has the athleticism to create pressure up the middle and an inside rush to the the quarterback. Dan Quinn’s defense is predicated on speed and pressure, Lovett not only adds to the defense’s strength but adds a solid gap run defender.

Fabien Lovett may struggle at the next level as he develops and refines his technique as a pass rusher but has a high motor to pair with his athleticism at the point of attack. He does tend to play high at times but with the right coaching he could be a solid rotational player. In a defense predicated on athleticism and speed, Lovett should see early success.
