Dallas Cowboys 7-round mock draft 2023 (Reloading the playmakers)
By Reid Hanson
Dallas Cowboys Round 6 (212): LB SirVocea Dennis, Pitt
The Dallas Cowboys always draft linebackers. It’s one of the most overlooked positions every draft cycle yet it’s sure thing every draft day. Linebackers are key special teamers and the Dallas Cowboys love to draft special teamers.
Last season the Cowboys picked Devin Harper as their token special teamer. He only logged ST snaps as a rookie and looks to reclaim that role again in 2023 (with maybe some subpackages in his future).
The Dallas Cowboys are getting a little long in the tooth on special teams and need to keep bringing in new players with defensive upside. Sirvocea Dennis could be a little bit of each for the Dallas Cowboys
Standing 6-foot-1, 230lbs, Dennis is a smaller linebacker prospect in the 2023 Draft. He’s instinctual and fast in pursuit, showing good traits to attack gaps as well as lateral pursuit.
He’s good in his run-fits and seems to process quickly. Not much hesitation, he’s smart player who can read an react quickly. Dennis can also blitz, which makes him extra valuable in Dan Quinn’s defense that uses different blitzers from different spots frequently.
As discussed, Dennis has special teams ability making him an easy fit on a team looking for stepping stone players.
Dennis is smaller and not well-tested in coverage. Not a great combo. If the D-line can’t keep him clean there could be issues. He’s not the physical freak Will McClay usually goes for but he’s an instant contributor who’s available for a reason at this point in the draft.
