WITH THE 170TH PICK IN THE 2023 NFL DRAFT THE DALLAS COWBOYS SELECT:

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pittsburgh. Habakkuk Baldonado. 170. EDGE. 123

At this point in the draft teams will turn to drafting players with traits who they hope they can craft into contributing players. A guy like Dallas Cowboys Defensive End Dorance Armstrong is a perfect example.

Pitt DE Habakkuk Baldonado had an up and down collegiate career. His junior season he blew up with nine sacks and 12 TFLs. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

Baldonado lacks experience. He played only one season of high school football, but with his size and athleticism he found himself playing for a Division one program. There’s no question he has the build with a 6’5″ 258lbs frame to go along with good speed and quickness to become a quality player. The issue is simply understanding the finer points of the game.

Baldonado lacks counter moves and is often too anxious to rush the passer. Often times, it leaves him vulnerable in the run game. However, with the look of an NFL pass rusher, working with Dan Quinn may be all he needs.
