Dallas Cowboys Step 5: free agent wide receivers

It is hard to project what will be the Dallas Cowboys draft targets until after free agency, but they have become a draft and develop team. Which is smart. You can only pay so many people.

As far as free agent wide receivers. The pool is shallow. The three best options for the Cowboys based on age, price, and scheme fit.

DJ Chark Jr.

He is 26 years old. He signed with the Lions on a one-year deal and dealt with injuries earlier in the season. Once he got right, he showcased his value as a vertical threat. Word is he is a great locker room guy.

2022 stats 52 targets 32/502/3

Spotrac estimates that Chark’s market value is around $9.5 million per season.

Mecole Hardman

He is 25 years old. He has a history of being injured. Dating back to his college days. A true speed demon who failed to live up to his promise in KC. A lot of questions about his health and durability. He was having a career year in 2022 until he got injured.

2022 stats 35 targets 25/297/4

Spotrac estimates that Hardman’s market value is around $10.3 million per season.

Parris Campbell

He is 25 years old. Injury-riddled past but in 2022 he played his first full season and displayed his speed and dynamic play-making abilities.

2022 stats 82 targets 57/581/3

Spotrac estimates that Campbell’s market value is around $2.5 million per season.

Wait. No Odell Beckman Jr. We already know we need to know on that front. Until things develop further, I am exploring other options.

Next. Cowboys 7-round mock draft (post-combine). dark

Now we have this first piece out of the way. Free agency is upon us and the first week of teams will burning money begins. Dallas won’t be one of those teams.
