WITH THE 58TH PICK IN THE 2023 NFL DRAFT THE DALLAS COWBOYS SELECT:

Pick Analysis. Texas A&M. Devon Achane. 58. player. 123. Scouting Report. RUNNING BACK

The Dallas Cowboys recently parted ways with former first round Running Back Ezekiel Elliott while placing the Franchise Tag on Tony Pollard.

While losing their hard nosed tough runner, the Cowboys front office received an education in acceleration. Bringing Pollard back on the franchise tag suggests this could be his final season with the team, though a deal could still be worked out. None the less, the team needs to not lean on just one runner so they bring in Aggie Running Back Devon Achane.

Achane, who had a formal meeting with the Cowboys during the Combine, is a track guy whose abilities make things that much more terrifying for opponents after the franchise added vertical threat WR Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans.

Suddenly, the Dallas Cowboys present an offense with home run hitters scattered across the field. Pollard, Cooks, Achane and though not a speedster CeeDee Lamb is a top tier play maker as well. Not to mention the loaded Tight End group the team has.

Achane is one of this draft’s smaller backs with a 5’8 1/2″ 188lbs frame. He piled up 1,100 yards and 8 touchdowns rushing in 2022 while adding three receiving touchdowns.

The Cowboys may still lack a power back, but the idea would be to spend small to bring in the bigger back while putting more fuel towards explosive play makers.

After all, explosive playmakers on day 2 are great value.
