Round Two – Tuli Tuipulotu – Edge – USC

One thing we know about the Dallas Cowboys is they love pass rushers in rotations. The team also seems to love guys who can play multiple positions. Tuipulotu was the best player available, and while linebacker, wide receiver, or cornerback could be a pick here, we went with the board. Tuipulotu may be a bit of a tweener for a lot of teams, but I feel like he is a Dan Quinn-style player.

Tuipulotu is a linear-style pass rusher who, in 2022, finished plays really well and is adept at holding gaps, shedding blocks, and making plays on the ball carrier. He has a good first punch which gives him time to set the edge and allow the ball carrier to come to him.

In 2022, he looked a little more agile as he shed some weight which helped him on passing downs. He can play across the defensive front and for a team like the Dallas Cowboys needing help on the line to stop the run he fits well.

Where Tuipulotu will need work is putting it all together to be a three-down player. If teams want him to add weight he will be a great edge setter against the run in early downs, if teams can keep his weight down and keep the power, he should be a three-down player. It is going to depend on where he goes and what he is asked to do. He offers a high floor with flashes in both run and pass sets that offer a glimpse of what he can become. His ability to play inside and out with a slashing style of play will help him early.
