Matt Landers,

WR,

University of Arkansas

Are the Dallas Cowboys really set at the wide receiver position? Maybe. Maybe not. Spending a top-100 pick on this position seems like a bit of an overreach but spending a 4th, 5th or 6th round pick may be just what the doctor ordered.

Matt Landers out of Arkansas has Dallas Cowboys wide receiver written all over him. He was a high school prospect that originally signed with the University of Georgia where he played his first two years. If he was on Kirby Smart’s radar, there must have been enough talent to get Georgia’s attention. He transferred to Toledo before finally landing in Fayetteville.

Landers has all of the physical abilities and attributes that you would require of a top wide receiver prospect. He checks the physical abilities box – 4.37 in the 40, 1.51 in the 10-yard split, and 10’10” broad jump. That’s top three at the position in the 40-yard dash and top 10 in the 10-yard split.

He also checks the physical profile box – Landers is 6’4″ 200 with 32.5-inch arms. He fits the mold of a true X-type receiver.

Putting it all together is where the fun begins. Could the Dallas Cowboys use him? Most certainly they could. He would be the perfect later round draft pick to stash behind Michael Gallup. There’s a spot open now that Noah Brown has taken his talents to Houston.

Let him compete for the fourth or fifth receiver spot. Maybe he can give the team something from a special teams’ standpoint. Dallas doesn’t know what they have in Jalen Tolbert and after him the cupboard is bare. The team could do much worse than this prospect.
