3 Cowboys Who Made a Major Impact on Dallas' 2025 Season
By Jack Gurley
On Sunday afternoon, the Cowboys' forgettable season officially came to an end, finishing with a 7-10 record, which put them under .500 for the first time since 2020. While this year was undoubtedly disappointing for the Cowboys organization and their fans, several players on the roster found ways to shine in this disheartening campaign.
With a handful of players putting up tremendous performances through this dreadful season, the Cowboys front office will look to find ways to give these promising players more prominent roles on the team going forward.
We have listed three players who have stood out this season for the Cowboys and put up memorable performances throughout a forgettable season.
3. DeMarvion Overshown - LB
While this season had what seemed like an ever-growing list of setbacks and disappointments. One of the biggest heartaches came in week 14 when linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the season. This is Overshown's second knee injury of his young professional career and is a massive blow to the Cowboys organization due to the potential he had shown through this season.
Overshown, a third-round pick from the 2023 draft, made his debut in the league at the beginning of the season after missing the entirety of the 2023 season due to tearing his ACL in a preseason game. Ovrershown quickly proved he was worth the wait when he got a sack in his debut game against the Cleveland Browns, which set the tone for the dominant player Overshown would become for the Cowboys.
After an impressive debut game, Overshown went on to become an anchor on a defense that has been depleted by a multitude of injuries this season. Throughout his rookie season, Overshown has been nothing short of impressive; he finished with the second-most tackles on the team and managed to get five sacks through only fourteen games.
Overshown's impressive play was praised by his defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer. Zimmer spoke highly of his linebacker, saying, "I feel like he continues to get better and better, and the more ways that we can use him, the better it is." This is huge praise coming from Zimmer, who has been coaching in the NFL since 1994 and has earned the reputation for being one of the strongest defensive minds in the game.
With Overshown now forced to recover from another gruesome knee injury the Cowboys organization is hoping that Overshwon can put this troubling injury history behind him and become the potential Pro Bowl-caliber player he has shown flashes of being through his rookie season this fall.
