The Dallas Cowboys won't be playing much football at all beyond the month of December anyway this year, but there are a number of players on this roster who are likely playing their "final" month of December as members of the Cowboys.

This has been an extremely disappointing season for the Cowboys overall with injuries decimating the roster, but even with injuries as a viable reason for the team's struggles overall, wholesale changes to the coaching staff and roster are pretty widely expected at this stage.

There will be plenty of players on expiring deals who won't be back after this season, but let's take a look at three Cowboys who are definitely entering their final month with the team.

Trey Lance leads Dallas Cowboys players entering final month on the team

1. Trey Lance, quarterback

The Dallas Cowboys seemingly wasted their time by trading for former 3rd overall pick Trey Lance. At the very least, you would think the Cowboys could have involved him over the last couple of years as some type of offensive weapon with Lance's tremendous running ability, but his opportunities have been few and far between.

We've seen Lance get a couple of chances this season running the ball, but nothing sustained and nothing that the Cowboys stuck with. Given the fact that Dak Prescott was hurt so early in the season, you might think the Cowboys would give Lance a shot to go out there and show what he can do and put some more stuff on tape. But that also didn't happen.

The Cowboys basically just wasted a fourth-round pick on Lance and he's going to walk in 2025 NFL free agency to a team that will hopefully give him a legitimate chance to actually do something for an offense next year, even if it is as a gadget option in the offense. Mike McCarthy and his staff obviously couldn't make that happen.
