3 Cowboys That Must Be Re-Signed Immediately This Offseason
3. Jourdan Lewis, Cornerback
One of the players who you could say has been "much maligned" for the Cowboys in recent years is slot cornerback Jourdan Lewis.
Lewis, now a grizzled veteran who is approaching his age-30 season in 2025, is coming off of a very strong year for Dallas, which came after he bounced back nicely in the second half of the 2023 season.
The Cowboys have already publicly expressed interest in bringing Lewis back to the team, and it figures that the veteran will re-sign this offseason. However, the theme of this post is that the Cowboys need to re-sign these guys immediately because a player like Lewis will draw interest elsewhere on a short-term deal.
Good help at the cornerback position is hard to come by.
Lewis, for his part, has also stated his interest in returning to the Cowboys this coming season:
"Dallas is my home. My kids were born here. We'd love to have another season here, or a few seasons here. My wife loves it. But I know it's a business, and we don't know what the front office needs."

The Cowboys have now had Lewis on the roster under a variety of different defensive coordinators dating back to his rookie year in 2017. There's no question that whatever the scheme is in 2025, he'll plug in as the slot corner.
This is a player the Cowboys have proven their loyalty to even through some of his worst times, so it's a no-brainer to bring him back quickly after he's played well and earned his way back.
