3 Cowboys Who Will Be Traded by the End of October
The Dallas Cowboys have somewhat limped to a 3-2 record in the first quarter of the 2024 season, and despite the way things have transpired on the field, this team is still very much in the thick of things in the NFC East. The Cowboys handed out massive contract extensions to both quarterback Dak Prescott as well as wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and along with those massive contracts come expectations of immediate success.
The Cowboys are going to have to be somewhat active as we approach the NFL trade deadline (November 5) in 2024, and not only in terms of acquiring players but potentially getting rid of guys as well. Dallas doesn't have time to mess around right now and they need to make sure they do whatever they can to assemble the best 53-man roster possible.
There will also be opportunities to offload some dead weight on the roster and perhaps get some additional future NFL Draft capital. Which players could be on the trade block for the Cowboys? Let's take a look at at a trio of names.
3 Cowboys players who could be traded by the end of October
1. Brandin Cooks, wide receiver
We have seen the Jalen Tolbert takeover early on this season for the Dallas Cowboys at the wide receiver position early on this season. Although Brandin Cooks hasn't been phased out completely, by any stretch, the Cowboys are giving more and more snaps as well as targets to Tolbert and his development is a gift from the football gods to this team.
Brandin Cooks doesn't really have much of a future with this team, as much as he may help out in the present. And so far this season, the help that he's providing is not much more than other guys further down the depth chart. Cooks has just nine receptions on 19 targets this season, the same number of receptions as KaVontae Turpin.
The Cowboys could offload the remainder of Cooks's contract, or perhaps even take on a chunk of it in order to facilitate a trade for a better draft pick. Some team desperate for help at the receiver position might pay up.
