3 Former Bears Matt Eberflus Could Bring With Him to Cowboys
One thing you can always count on in the NFL offseason year after year: Relationships matter. The NFL is not all about who you know, but it's a lot about who you know. The Dallas Cowboys are a pretty good example of that even just last year when we saw defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer bring a familiar face to be the "quarterback" of his defense in linebacker Eric Kendricks.
With Brian Schottenheimer building his own staff and Matt Eberflus joining him as defensive coordinator, what kinds of connections from Chicago to Dallas could we see on the Cowboys' roster happening in 2025?
Are there any Bears players worth poaching? Roster cuts incoming? Trade candidates? Here are a handful of Bears (soon former Bears) worth monitoring as potentially joining Eberflus in Dallas.
3 Players Who Could Follow Matt Eberflus to the Cowboys in 2025
1. DeMarcus Walker, DL (potential cap casualty)
The Chicago Bears don't exactly need a ton of cap space, but anytime there is a changing of the guard at the head coach spot (and defensive coordinator with Dennis Allen coming in), coaches like to have their "guys" all over the roster.
Not that DeMarcus Walker won't endear himself to the new coaching staff, but his situation is one of those "writing on the wall" types of deals that could allow him to move on to the Dallas Cowboys as a cap casualty of the Bears. The Bears would save over $5 million by cutting Walker and the Cowboys with Matt Eberflus at the helm would probably love to swoop in and sign him to a short-term deal.
With seven sacks over the last two seasons in Chicago combined, Walker has proven to be a solid pickup but maybe not exactly what the Bears had hoped when they landed him in free agency. He's most effective as a rotational player and the Cowboys could maximize him under Matt Eberflus.
