2. Justin Fields, QB

Well, if you've followed any of the Matt Eberflus/Chicago Bears/Justin Fields saga over the last handful of years, you'd know that if Fields ends up joining the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, it would be because of mere happenstance.

It's not like Fields is going to be doing cartwheels over the idea of re-joining a team in which Eberflus is on the coaching staff.

But in this instance, I do believe Fields could let bygones be bygones. The Cowboys could (and should) be looking for a new backup quarterback situation in 2025. Brian Schottenheimer could very well choose to bring back Cooper Rush, but the idea of Fields coming to Dallas might have some merit.

Dallas tried to acquire and develop Fields's 2021 NFL Draft classmate Trey Lance, and Lance is now set to hit free agency. I'm not saying it's a one-for-one kind of deal, but why not kill two birds with one stone and swap out both Rush and Lance on the roster for Fields?

Fields has starting experience. He'd be a high upside, short-term backup for Dak Prescott. The Cowboys would offer him a situation in which he could really thrive with CeeDee Lamb as his primary target in the passing game. Brian Schottenheimer has done great work with quarterbacks who are mobile in the past (see: Russell Wilson).

Again, this would have little to do with the connection to Matt Eberflus but it's very possible that we could see Fields joining the Dallas Cowboys this offseason as he would be a great fit to be Dak Prescott's backup while rehabbing his value on a new team. Unless Fields is getting offers elsewhere to start -- which I'd be skeptical of -- he could be an intriguing option for the Cowboys.
