3 Former Bears Matt Eberflus Could Bring With Him to Cowboys
3. Keenan Allen, WR
I bet you thought this list was going to be full of defensive players, didn't you?
Well, the Bears' best defensive free agent in 2025 is pass rusher Darrell Taylor, a guy who was acquired just before the start of the 2024 season after the Bears failed to trade for Matthew Judon, as we all witnessed last year during the Hard Knocks series.
I don't know that Eberflus would have much to do with it other than the three degrees of separation, but Keenan Allen could be a nice fit for the Dallas Cowboys to come in on a short-term deal and help take some pressure off of both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.
Although he got off to a relatively slow start with the Bears last season, Allen really emerged over the course of the year and proved he's still got something left in the tank. The Bears acquired him in a trade with the Chargers last offseason and he wound up catching 70 passes and seven touchdowns.
He could easily match those numbers in what we expect to be a pass-happy attack for the Cowboys once Dak Prescott is back in the mix. The Cowboys finally got a breakthrough year last year from Jalen Tolbert, and having Keenan Allen come into the mix could make his life easier as well. Plus, there are not many better guys to help show young receivers how to be a pro than Allen.
The Cowboys are likely going to be moving on from veteran receiver Brandin Cooks this offseason, so getting another receiver in the mix could make some sense for them. They are going to believe they can return to contention with a healthy roster, and adding a player like Allen in free agency could set Brian Schottenheimer's offense up well.
