3 Former Cowboys Regretting Leaving Dallas at Halfway Point of Season

These former Cowboys probably wish they were still in Dallas.

2. Tony Pollard, Running Back, Titans

This is a situation where the feeling has got to be mutual on both sides.

From the Dallas Cowboys' perspective, the running back position was an area in which they were going to take their chances. They brought free agent Ezekiel Elliott back after cutting him in 2023 and figured he could at least raise the floor of that room. They didn't really draft anybody else because they had drafted Deuce Vaughn last year and probably figured they had enough young talent at the position.

They were wrong.

The running game has been abysmal for the Cowboys this year, and part of the reason for that is the fact that they let Tony Pollard walk in free agency.

Pollard probably had plenty of options, but out of all of them, he chose to return close to his college football roots and go play for the Tennessee Titans (Pollard played at Memphis).

Despite the proximity to home (Pollard is a Memphis native), the Titans are downright terrible and could be for quite some time. They have a brand-new coaching staff, no long-term QB situation, and they might be favorites to land the #1 overall pick in next year's draft.

Pollard might be okay with that since he gets to be closer to his home, but not having the opportunity to play football in January after he has done it his entire career could get old really fast. By the time this season is over, Pollard might be wishing he'd made a different choice entirely.
