3 Mavericks Leaving Dallas in the New Year (2025 Edition)
By Jack Gurley
1. Maxi Kleber
It is hard to believe that Maxi Kleber has been with the Mavericks organization since 2017. Since joining the organization, fans watched Kleber quickly develop into a solid big man and eventually become a huge offensive asset for the Mavs. Mavericks fans have just has quickly watch Kleber steadily decline the past couple of years and be reduced into a shell of his former self.
While Kleber at one point was one of the most prominent members of the Mavs roster, it seems that he has regressed since 2022. Over the past two season Kleber’s numbers have dropped off and his regression continues to remain apparent through this season.
Kleber is currently averaging an astoundingly low 2.5 points per game through 19 cotests this season. Kleber's role with the team has also been significantly reduced due to the emergence of Derek Lively, along with Daniel Gafford continuing to put up solid numbers in Dallas.
A new scene for Kleber could be just what he needs to rejuvenate his career and revert into the solid role player he once was. While aspects of Kleber's game will be missed in Dallas, it seems it is time for Dallas to cut ties with Kleber and move on from the at-one-time promising power forward.
