Quietly, the Dallas Cowboys made a drastic change this offseason, spending time acquiring options to help ease the burden off Dak Prescott and the passing attack. While this will remain what the Cowboys do best, the team now has enough rushing options to help balance out the offense and make life easier for the quarterback and star pass catchers.

When it comes to the Dallas offense, it is understandable that all anyone wants to discuss is the addition of George Pickens. This is understandable when you look at the highlight reel and consider what could be with the team's new duo.

Still, it overlooks a quieter addition that is already having an impact. Signing Javonte Williams at his lowest value was a great move for a franchise that brought in another veteran in Miles Sanders. The Cowboys were happy to shop in the bargain aisle at the position while still adding experienced players who will have a chance to play in one of the league's better offensive units. Williams stands out especially as the assumed starter and a player who is going to help set the tone.

The Cowboys Found a Bargain in Javonte Williams

Williams hasn't played with an offense nearly this talented and is going to see his numbers boosted while being paid a low rate. With this in mind, it is easy to already appreciate what the veteran is bringing to the Cowboys' offense and how it is expected to change life for Prescott moving forward. This isn't to argue the Cowboys have added Derrick Henry or Saquon Barkley, rather the franchise was savvy enough to continue to go all in on its passing attack while bringing in backs capable of easing the load.

Signing Williams and Sanders is about continuing to lean on what the unit does best while having the ability to rush the football. This is something the team has struggled to do for the last two seasons, even attempting to turn the clock back to Zeke Elliott, hoping there was something left in the tank. When this predictably failed and Dallas lost its remaining options in free agency, Williams and Sanders were the next answers.

It is the correct direction to look when you consider the lack of star power currently on the market at the position. The Cowboys now have the chance to find a consistent balance without the burden of paying the position top dollar.
