3 Most Likely Cowboys Head Coaches to Replace Mike McCarthy
By Jack Gurley
1. Deion Sanders, University of Colorado Head Coach
While many will believe that the Cowboys hiring Deion Sanders is unrealistic, it would be foolish to ever count Jerry Jones out on making a shocking decision.
After the news of McCarthy not coming to Dallas broke, it was quickly reported that Cowboy executives were speaking with Sanders about possibly taking over in Dallas.
While many have been skeptical of Sanders since he began his coaching career, his numbers speak for themselves. Just this past season, he has continued to turn the University of Colorado's football program, which was once a perpetual laughing stock, into one of the top programs in the country.
Sanders led Colorado to a 9-4 record this past fall, which put Colorado above .500 for the first time since 2016. Sanders' impressive turnaround proves that he has what it takes to run a successful football program and forces fans to wonder if he really could be an effective coach in the NFL.
Many would consider it unlikely for Sanders to leave Colorado, especially given how quickly he has turned the program around. However, the opportunity to coach his former team may be too much to pass up for Sanders.
