5 Starters Cowboys Should Already Be Scouting to Draft Replacements For
5. Terence Steele, RT
The Cowboys' offensive line hasn't been that great this season and Terence Steele's abysmal play has played a role in those struggles.
The former Texas Tech blocker hasn't lived up to the expectations that came with his five-year, $82.5 million contract. Through his first 12 appearances, Steele has conceded a whopping 35 pressures on 566 passing downs, resulting in a pass block grade of 53.1 — 66th out of 77 qualified tackles.
If that isn't bad enough, Steele's nine sacks allowed is the most among tackles who've played at least 300 passing downs this season. With the 27-year-old veteran playing that poorly, it's no wonder that Dallas' offense has struggled with consistency this season.
Even though Steele has four years remaining on his contract, the Cowboys must consider moving on from him this offseason. Even though all of his money won't come off the books, Jones & Co. will only deal with $4.1 million in dead money in 2025 if they waive or trade him after June 1, saving $14 million in the process. That money can then be used to shore up other positions while Steele's replacement can be found through the draft.
Unless he turns into a brick wall down the stretch, it's time to replace Steele with a stronger and more consistent presence.
