One of the most discussed topics in the NFC East through the first five weeks of the season has been the performance of the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense, which has caused friction and frustration among their star players.
The Dallas Cowboys had a chance to see this Eagles’ offense up close in Week 1, and actually gave them fits. However, since that game, the Eagles’ offense has been stuck in neutral, and it showed in Philly’s loss on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
In fact, one play from that game was heavily criticized, and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci was among those to weigh in with his thoughts. During Sunday’s game, Eagles WR A.J. Brown was seen slowing down on a route that could’ve easily been a touchdown, and put Philadelphia up 24-3.
Former Cowboys QB Ben DiNucci Weighs In on Failed Eagles Play
That play has been debated on social media, with people pointing fingers about who is at fault. However, the ex-Cowboy joined in on the fun and only doused gasoline on the fire concerning who he felt was at fault for the non-score.
“If you can’t tell whose fault it is, you don’t know football,” DiNucci said from his X account.
As you can imagine, football fans on social media responded to DiNucci’s comment, with most blaming Brown for stopping and not continuing on his route.
The ex-Cowboy never clarified with a clear answer on who was to blame, but regardless, this is not a good look for the Eagles. Before that play, Philadelphia had to deal with the Twitter saga with Brown, who posted a cryptic message following its Week 4 win.
That said, Cowboys fans won’t feel sorry for the Eagles. Philadelphia was considered a shoo-in to return to the Super Bowl this season due to its offense and the talent they have at the skill positions.
However, one could make the case, and the stats back this up, that the Cowboys have a better offense than the Eagles right now.
Heading into Week 6, the Cowboys have the better scoring offense (30.4 points per game – 4th in the NFL) than the Eagles (25.0 – 12th). Dallas also has a much better passing game (272.2 yards per game – 3rd) than Philadelphia (161.8 – 31st).
Nonetheless, Cowboys fans will be watching this week to see if the Eagles’ offense can figure it out against the New York Giants. If Philly loses and the passing game struggles, Dallas fans will gladly take that result.
