Dallas Cowboys fans are jumping up and down, waiting to see what Caleb Downs can do in his rookie campaign. Arguably the best player in the draft, Downs was made fun of for wearing No. 18, but that looks to be a thing of the past now.
The All-American safety previously wore No. 2 at Ohio State. It fit the mold of his abilities, chasing down tacklers and receivers. Wearing No. 18 wasn't exactly the best fit for Downs, as Cowboys fans and media agreed he had to change his jersey at some point.
New Cowboys safety Cobie Durant currently has the No. 2 in the locker room, and while it looks like Downs still won't be wearing that, he looks much better in his new fit.

How do we feel, Cowboys fans?
Still not good enough? Fair to say, but at least it's better than before. Former Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci couldn't help but roast the team for having Downs wear No. 18. He wasn't necessarily going after Downs, but rather the team for putting him in an awkward spot.
Good for the rookie to hear the noise and decide to get that fixed. Unless he's willing to make a deal with Durant, it looks like the former Buckeye will stick with No. 13.
Again, at the end of the day, what do numbers matter? Well, it does for some. Tom Brady grabbed Chris Godwin's number, as Godwin went from No. 12 to No. 14. Godwin voluntarily gave it up, signaling a sign of respect for what may be the greatest NFL player of all time.
Now, Downs hasn't played a down of pro football yet, so he's still got something to prove. But a stud like him shouldn't have been wearing No. 18 in the first place.
Future Hall of Fame safety Tyrann Mathieu is already buying stock in Downs like everyone else and predicted the All-American to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. As maybe the best player in the draft, it's easy to say. The only reason he was picked at No. 11 was because of positional value, but Cowboys fans already know he's as versatile as it gets.
Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't, but at least he won't be wearing No. 18 making plays on the field. Either way, the star looks great on the rookie, and that's all that matters.
