Last Friday, we heard the news that former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested on suspicion of OWI in Wisconsin after a golf tournament. Now, CBS has decided to pull the plug on the No. 1 color commentator "until further notice."
Earlier this week, authorities said that Romo had an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle when he stopped by police. After he did poorly on his sobriety test, he was taken into custody, booked and eventually released.
More videos were released this week of Romo performing his tests, giving CBS more of a reason to put Romo on indefinite leave after staying silent for a week.

In the meantime, CBS announced that three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt will take Romo's place while he's on leave. That means he will join the No. 1 broadcast team, Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson.
We don't know exactly when Romo will return to the booth, or even if he will, but he's got a court appearance on September 21 of this year. After that would be Week 3 of the NFL season, and depending on how things go in court, he could return to CBS sometime in October, but there's no way to know for sure.
Since taking over Phil Simms as the lead color announcer for the NFL on CBS, Romo quickly developed a reputation for calling plays before they happen, becoming an instant success in his first season with the network. This was going to be his 10th season at the network, but it's under unfortunate circumstances.
Romo has had the privilege of calling three Super Bowls with Nantz, and he hopes to call more important games if CBS continues to ride with him.
Romo finished his career with the most passing yards in Cowboys history until Dak Prescott passed him. Romo is a four-time Pro Bowler and still leads the franchise in passing touchdowns with 248.
Luckily, he ended up fine, and nobody was hurt. Still, in no way is this a good look for CBS or the Cowboys organization.
