There has been bad blood between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys for decades. Generations of Cowboys fans have seen tensions between the two sides for several reasons, as well as plenty of big-name players who have starred for both franchises.

Well, fans in Dallas can expect those feelings toward Philadelphia's players and coaches to continue for years to come. Monday afternoon, the Eagles announced that they have come to a multi-year extension with head coach Nick Sirianni.

The same Nick Sirianni who infamously mocked the Cowboys and their fans following a win at Lincoln Financial Field in October 2022.

While conventional wisdom would suggest an opposing head coach is low on the list of things that cause Cowboys fans blood to boil, Sirianni may be the exception to the rulle. He has carried himself in a way that toes the line between confident and cocky since taking the job in Philadelphia.

Brian Schottenheimer and the rest of the staff in Dallas calling the shots now have the opportunity to ruin much more than just the Eagles' banner-raising celebration this September when the two sides meet on Opening Night. The Cowboys can also let Sirianni and the brain trust in Philadelphia know that their days at the top of the NFC East are numbered by putting together a winning performance in Week 1.

Given the way Sirianni and the Eagles have gloated following their Super Bowl win this past season, handing the defending champions a loss on their home turf in front of the entire football world will be a nice way for Schottenheimer and Dallas to let Philadelphia know they mean business.

With the additions the Cowboys have made during the offseason, they should be unleasing a different type of beast on the Eagles (and the rest of the NFL) once the 2025 campaign kicks off this September.
