The Dallas Cowboys saw backup quarterback Cooper Rush surprisingly sign a two-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens last week.

The 31-year-old quarterback has mostly spent his seven-year playing career with the Cowboys. Rush did have a small stint with the New York Giants in May 2020. After being waived by Dallas, New York signed Rush.

However, the Giants didn’t keep Rush for long as they released him on Sept. 29, 2020. Without Rush as the backup quarterback, the Cowboys will need to find their new QB2 in the NFL draft, free agency, or trade market.

Before heading to Baltimore, Rush sent one last message to Cowboys fans, expressing thanks and support for his time in Dallas. In a video posted to Instagram, it showcases Rush's time and moments with the organization.

"From an undrafted rookie wearing #7 to an eight year vet wearing #10, I appreciate every moment in a Cowboys uniform. Thank you to Dallas for all of the love that you showed to me and family. I’m excited for the next chapter but forever grateful for the first one."

For an undrafted free agent, Rush has made a nice career for himself and always stepped up when the Cowboys needed him. Last season, the veteran signal-caller was pushed into the QB1 role after Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending hamstring injury.

In eight starts, the 31-year-old Rush completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 1,677 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions. The veteran quarterback has a 60.7 completion percentage for his career while throwing for 3,463 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Nonetheless, it will be strange for Dallas fans to see Rush in a different uniform and helmet as he’s been in Dallas for several years. However, the Cowboys are signaling they are ready to go in a different direction at backup QB.
