As the Texas Rangers are still around the .500 mark in a historically weak conference, Rangers' star shortstop Corey Seager has finally admitted the cold, hard truth about himself this season.

The five-time All-Star is on a 0-for-27 slump and has gone hitless for seven straight games. You can also add 11 strikeouts to that, too. Jake Burger and Danny Jensen may have been the heroes for the Rangers' first walk-off win of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but it still isn't enough to forget one of the worst slumps in Seager's amazing career.

“It’s one of those things that you’re going to figure it out out there,” Seager said. “It’s always been like my focus, right, you’re going to figure it out swinging. So right now, I want to keep going out there and trying to figure it out.”

Corey Seager's awful slump has gotten too obvious to ignore

Seager has been on the roster for some of the brightest days in Rangers history, for instance, the 2023 World Series victory, but fans have a right to be upset and ask for more. He's the undisputed leader of the team, and when he's in a slump, you have to count on a lot to go the Rangers' way.

Batting at .179 at this point in the season isn't great, but Seager still has time to improve. The Rangers have other assets in the batting department, but the depth looks thin if the two-time World Series MVP is in a serious jam, which he is now.

They have help from Josh Jung, who's leading the team with a .325 batting average this season. Other than that, they don't have many answers. Brandon Nimmo and Ezequiel Duran have had their moments, but it feels like they will need to use the trade deadline to accelerate past the weak AL West.

The Rangers have the tools they need to take advantage in this conference, and they need Seager to get going. Of course, he's not the only reason the Rangers look mediocre now, as their pitching rotation has been in the middle of the pack all season.

After all, these kinds of slumps happen to the great ones. Even the best player in baseball, Shohei Ohtani, is going through one right now. But to be fair, Ohtani, as a two-way superstar, even needs his own rest at times.

Seager may need that, too, but either way, Rangers fans cannot be quiet anymore. The star of the team has to be better from here on out.
