The Dallas Cowboys front office put themselves in a bad position with quarterback Dak Prescott. Expectations were high when Prescott signed his $240 million mega-deal last season, and it's safe to say that the investment hasn't paid off as planned. He was only healthy enough to play eight games in 2024, and his lone good game of the 2025 campaign was against a helpless New York Giants defense.

With this in mind, Prescott is clearly under pressure heading into Week 4's meeting with the Green Bay Packers. The veteran signal-caller has tossed as many interceptions as touchdowns (3), and now he has to go up against one of the NFL's best defenses. Prescott desperately needs to play a clean game against the Packers this weekend, not only to get the Cowboys' season back on track, but to prove that his massive contract isn't a mistake.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Is on Thin Ice in Week 4

Dallas needs a steadying performance from Prescott to help erase questions surrounding his future under center. What has made the Cowboys QB great is his confidence in his ability to make plays and his elite decision-making that keeps the chains moving, which is the type of player he must be to defeat Micah Parsons and the Packers.

Another rough performance is going to bring up a lot of questions about Prescott's future and point to a contract that is aging poorly. This isn't just based on three games of production, but looking back at last season's injury and how sideways the 2024 campaign went due to his missing such a large chunk of time.

While players cannot help injuries, durability is a piece of how contracts are judged looking back. As great as Prescott has been in the past, his contract will age like warm milk in the Arlington sun if he can't stay on the field.

The turnovers and durability concerns will only be compounded by the fact that CeeDee Lamb is out this week, leaving the burden of the offense on Prescott's shoulders. If he has a great game, the entire narrative will dissipate. If not, the noise surrounding his future will only grow louder.

It's never been clearer that Week 4 is important for Prescott's future with the franchise. Some Cowboys fans are waiting for backup QB Joe Milton III to be given another opportunity, highlighting the importance of Prescott needing to decisively beat the Packers.
