The Dallas Cowboys made sure to make some splashy additions to both sides of the ball. They know they weren't good enough last year, but Dallas was able to snag some talent via the 2025 NFL draft.

They snagged nine players in April, and with their third-round pick (76th overall), they drafted CB Shavon Revel Jr. to bolster their secondary.

Even though he's only been around for less than three months, Revel Jr. could be a hidden treasure for this group.

Cowboys May Have Found Gem in Shavon Revel Jr.

Revel Jr. tore his ACL during a practice last season, which led to him falling down draft boards. He's been rehabbing over the last few months but is expected to be ready for training camp.

Considering that Trevon Diggs is coming back from a knee injury himself, and DaRon Bland suffered a stress fracture last training camp, the Cowboys added a terrific depth piece who can push for a starting role soon.

Revel Jr. stands at 6-foot-2 and has long arms (32⅝-inch arms) that allow him to get his hands on receivers. He thrives in press coverage and will get his head around to make plays on the ball. In 24 collegiate games (15 starts) at East Carolina, Revel Jr. had 70 total tackles, 16 pass deflections, four TFLs, and three interceptions.

He is very aware and will use the sideline to his advantage, and has the traits to be a quality player in this league. Revel Jr. was in Dallas for a pre-draft visit and clearly won them over during those conversations.

It'll be interesting to see when he officially gets on the field for the Cowboys, but there's a pathway for him to get on the field rather quickly. Bland was taken some snaps in the slot this offseason, and if he does start there, it'll open up a spot on the outside.

If he didn't suffer that injury, he likely wouldn't have fallen into the Cowboys' lap, and that has to be considered a massive win due to the talent he possesses.
