The Dallas Cowboys have already been a constant topic of conversation this offseason. After deciding not to bring back Mike McCarthy and giving the head coach position to Brian Schottenheimer, it has been all about filling in his coaching staff.

The Cowboys have made Matt Eberflus their defensive coordinator and named Aaron Whitecotton as their defensive line coach.

They are done filling out their staff and on Friday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Arizona Cardinals OL coach Klayton Adams is set to interview for their offensive coordinator position in person. Garafolo added that he has emerged as the favorite to land the role.

Cowboys News: Dallas Interviewing Klayton Adams for OC

Adams has been coaching in college and the pros since 2005. From 2019-2022 with the Indianapolis Colts, Adams held roles as Assistant offensive line coach and Tight ends coach.

He then went to the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 and has been their offensive line coach. Adams played a big role in the success of the Cardinals' rushing attack in 2024. They ranked seventh in the NFL in rushing offense (144.2), which is music to the ears of Cowboy fans. Dallas was on the opposite end, ranking 27th in rushing offense (100.3).

The Cowboys understand having a balanced offensive attack goes a long way and it looks like Adams could bring that energy back to Dallas.

According to Mauricio Rodríguez of AtoZSportsNFL, the Cardinals dialed up the second-most counterplays in the NFL during the 2024 season. The Cowboys were ranked 30th in that area.

In addition per Bo Brack of PHNX_Cardinals, under Adams, the Cardinals gave up the fifth-fewest sacks (30) and third-fewest pressures (180) this season. Those positive numbers don't stop there. Over the last two seasons, the Cardinals were third in total rushing yards and second in YPC (5.2).

Although he hasn't been an offensive coordinator in the NFL before, these numbers are very positive. The fact that he was brought in for a second interview illustrates he nailed the first interview and has a legit shot of getting the gig.
