The Dallas Cowboys are going to go as far as starting quarterback Dak Prescott can take them. This isn't some revelation for Cowboys fans, as those are the stakes whenever the highest-paid player on the roster also plays the most important position on the field.
With Prescott coming back from the hamstring injury that prematurely ended his 2024 campaign after just eight games, the former All-Pro selection was already feeling the pressure to perform once the 2025 season kicks off.
That was before first-year Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer made it known that he will be judging Prescott off of one thing and one thing alone when measuring whether the quarterback's return is a success or failure.
Brian Schottenheimer Put Pressure on Dak Prescott to Win in 2025
After finishing the 2024 season with a record of 7-10, Dallas made major changes to the coaching staff as well as the roster. With Schottenheimer now calling the shots on the sidelines, he expects Prescott to lead the Cowboys to wins, and he let his quarterback, as well as the rest of the fan base, know that while speaking with the media on Tuesday.
Brian Schottenheimer was asked what offensive stat is there to view when it comes to success with QB Dak Prescott: "Wins."

Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million extension before the 2024 campaign that keeps the former Mississippi State University standout in Dallas through the 2028 season. While one would think that provides Prescott with all the job security he needs, the Cowboys do have a potential out in his deal following the 2027 season.
Dallas has been chasing a sixth Super Bowl championship since it last hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy in 1996. With that title drought approaching 30 years, Jerry Jones' patience must be wearing thin, which means that the entire front office feels the same way.
If Prescott and the Cowboys don't turn things around and show major improvement this coming season, there could be more subtractions from the current roster than additions made to it. That is something that every player should be concerned about, especially one with a contract as expensive as Prescott's.
The best way for Dallas' signal-caller and his teammates to avoid this harsh reality is to do as Schottenheimer said: win games.
