Cowboys Dealt Devastating News on Scary MNF Injury
By Jovan Alford
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had the best of luck with injuries this season. They’ve seen Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Marshawn Kneeland, and Brandin Cooks miss significant time due to various injuries.
Then a couple of weeks ago, the Cowboys saw star quarterback Dak Prescott go down with a season-ending hamstring injury. It’s safe to say that the Cowboys can’t get rid of the injury bug.
The good news for Dallas is some of those players have returned or are on their way back. However, the injury bug hit the team again on Monday night. Dallas saw young safety Markquese Bell suffer a scary shoulder injury against the Houston Texans.
Bell was one of the Cowboys’ rising stars on defense last season as he played some linebacker under then-defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
However, under new DC Mike Zimmer, Bell returned to his natural position at safety. This season, he has played 34 defensive and 168 special teams snaps.
In addition to his work on defense, Bell plays a big role on special teams, so his impact on the field will be missed.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Bell will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated left shoulder. Archer also highlighted how upset special teams coordinator John Fassel was when talking about the young defender on Tuesday.
Fassel and the Cowboys pride themselves on having a good special teams unit from kicking/punting, kick coverage, and the return game. Nevertheless, Dallas must find a solution/replacement for Bell ahead of Sunday’s road game against the Washington Commanders.
