Perhaps it isn't fair to blame the current Dallas Cowboys drama on star defender Micah Parsons. It isn't the star who opted to call out the agent attempting to negotiate the new deal. Parsons can not be held responsible either for Dallas making the odd choice of paying CeeDee Lamb before their defensive star. Receivers are far easier to replace than pass rushers, even players as talented as Lamb. Simply look at the long list of receivers who have been on the move in the 2025 season.
The Cowboys would've been far smarter to pay the star defender and keep one of the most dominating forces in the league happy.
However, this is where it is important to note that Parsons isn't completely blameless in the current debate. The star pass rusher has consistently made headlines with his podcast and has been unafraid to be outspoken. While this creates a lot of exciting headlines for Dallas fans, it isn't the trait you want to see in an unproven franchise player. It would be nice to see Parsons not wear down in a season and finish strong.
While the team's struggles can't be blamed on Parsons, it is also worth noting the Cowboys haven't won anything of note in his tenure.
Cowboys and Micah Parsons Continue Offseason Drama
All of this adds up to another offseason of drama for an organization that continues to fall behind in the NFC East. While adding George Pickens has breathed life back into hopes of contending, the team still has a myriad of question marks it is yet to answer.
The biggest question mark remains Parsons, as he is being thrown around in trade speculation. While things haven't reached this level as of yet, it is yet another example of the Cowboys staying relevant in all the worst ways. Having content players who are focused on bringing back meaningful winning to a historic franchise should be the goal.
It seems owner Jerry Jones subscribes to the thought that all publicity is for the better and doesn't hesitate to play into this. Leaving the Cowboys, starring in another offseason drama, and Parsons left with his future still in question.
